Invisalign Invisible Braces
What is Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is the controlled movement of teeth into desired positions to enhance aesthetics and function. Methods include braces, Invisalign or clear aligners. We offer Invisalign and clear aligners at The Gentle Dentist.
Invisalign or clear aligners is a series of clear trays (aligners) to move teeth sequentially into the desired positions.
What is involved?
We offer a Smile Assessment to see if clear aligners are right for you.
Radiographs, photographic records and impressions are taken to formulate your individual treatment plan.
The length of treatment time depends on the severity of your case and what you would like to achieve. The average case takes approximately 12 months for adults.
Aligners must be worn 20-22 hours per day and removed only for eating and brushing. Review appointments are scheduled for every 6 weeks to ensure treatment is progressing as planned.
Upon completion, we highly recommend retainers to prevent teeth from shifting back into their initial positions. Retainers can be fixed wire or removable clear retainers.
What is the long term prognosis?
The successful outcome of clear aligners depends on you: whether you have been wearing your aligners for at least 20 hours per day, practicing good oral hygiene and attending scheduled review appointments.
Post-treatment, teeth can be retained in position for the long term if a retainer is used.
